Not exactly crap, but Setting Sons by The Jam starts and ends comparatively weakly with Girl on the Phone and Heatwave. If it started with When You’re Young and ended with Strange Town it would have been the perfect album, and every song would fit with the narrative.

Good shout fella.
Girl on The Phone is a quality song, but doesn't really fit the mood of the album. Never really understood why Strange Town wasn't included (on the UK release, at least) either.
Heatwave, well, it's just a cover song filler.

Got to disagree, Candy's Room deserves its place on 'Darkness'
As for combo's, 'Metting Across the River' and Jungleland (from Born to Run) takes some beating.

The song with the dog on in Meddle is the sorest of thumbs as the rest is superb.
